Annise Cookie


Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
½ cup butter
¼ cup white shortening (crisco)
¾ cup sugar
4 eggs
4 cups sifted flour (sifted flour or cake flour)
4 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 tsp anise

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

STEP 1: melt the butter and white shortening.
STEP 2: Put into mixing bowl and add sugar.
STEP 3: add eggs.
STEP 4: Combine flour, baking powder and salt, stir and then add to the wet mixture, continue to mix. Uts best ti add about 1 cup at a time and blend it in and then add more.
STEP 5. Add vanilla and anise.

Note: mixture will be thick and sticky.

Scoop small balls of dough and rollinto 1" balls, place on lightly greased cooking sheet. Slightly tap down the balls on the top.

Bake for 8-10 minutes (do not over cook).
 

Anise Cookie Icing


Ingredients:

2 cups confectioner's sugar
2 TBS anise
3 1/2 TBS milk
Multi-colored decorative sprinkles (optional)

Mix all the above ingredients together to smooth icing. (Icing will be much looser then frosting). It makes a glaze vs. frosting.

Dip cookies into the icing.

Drizzle iced cookies into decorations (sprinkles) let sit for an hour to set before storing or serving.
