1/2 Cup Shortening (Half butter or margarine)
1 1/4 Cups Brown sugar (Packed)
1 Egg
1 3/4 Cups Gold Medal flour
2 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Ginger
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Cloves
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1/3 Cup Chopped pecans
4-5 Doz. Pecan halves (for tops)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

Mix shortening, sugar, and egg thoroughly.

Blend dry ingredients. Stir into shortening mixture.

Stir in chopped pecans.

Roll dough in 1" balls. Place 2" apart on greased baking sheet. Place a pecan half on top of each cookie, flattening slightly.

Bake 10-12 minutes.

For softer cookies, store in tight container with an apple slice.
