1/2 lb. butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
4 eggs (JUST yolks right now)- make paste with 4 yokes and 2 tbsp of flour and 3 tbsp of boiling water
1 tsp baking soda
1 lb nuts (4 cups)
1 lb dates cut
3 cups flour
Beat egg whites until stiff

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º

Mix all the ingredients in order.

Drop dough on cookie sheet

Bake 10-12 minutes

VERY IMPORTANT:

STOP using the mixer when you add the baking soda, nuts, dates, flour and egg whites. Mix by hand at that point!
