Ingredients:
Waxed paper
5 cups of flour plus extra for dusting bread board
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup warm water
2 pkg yeast
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Measure out the 5 cups of flour on waxed paper. In a mixing bowl, put the sugar, salt, 1/2 cup warm water (not too hot) and yeast. Let soak. Warm the 1 cup of milk and add to the sugar mixture. Add in the eggs and shortening.

Add in 2 cups of the flour (roughly) and mix well, no lumps. Add in the rest of the flour and work until stiff.

Dust some flour on a bread board (or hard surface) and work dough for about 10 minutes.

Grease a bowl and put the dough inside the bowl. Cover with waxed paper and a tea towel and let rise for 1 hour.

Grease three cookie sheets. Punch down the dough and return it to the bread board, dusted with more flour. Roll out the dough to about 1/4" thick. Cut out the dough with a round cutter and place each round on a cookie sheet.

Cover the cookie sheets with tea towels and let rise for 20 minutes and preheat the oven to 375º.

Bake for about 15 minutes. Remove, and top each with a pat of butter.

I loved these when Grandma would make them, SO happy Beth found this recipe! They are so good. Grandma never much liked "boughten" hamburger buns.
