Ingredients:
Ingredients:
6 to 8 chicken breasts with bones (4-5 lbs)
2 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Dumplings:
9 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups Crisco
2 cups & 3 tbsp cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Put all the chicken section ingredients in a large stock pot. Fill the large pot 3/4 full of water and boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 4 hours or until chicken is tender. Remove chicken from the broth and discard skins and bones. Cut chicken into bit sized pieces and return to broth.

Make dumplings by combining flour and salt then cutting in crisco with a pastry blender and add water. Form ball and divide into 4 pieces. Roll out each ball into 1/8" thick and cut into 1" strips. Heat broth to boiling and drop dumpling strips. Stir and reduce heat. Cover and simmer 20-30 minutes then serve. Will thicken greatly and be amazing the following day.

Personal Notes:
This is another family favourite that brings back smells and memories. I do not make this as often as we typically have lighter soups but when we want a hearty, stick to your bones dumpling soup this is great - especially because of how it has been passed down for generations.
