Directions: |
Directions:Put 2 c. flour in bowl. Add 1/2 c. warm water slowly as you stir the flour. Make a dough ball.
Add oil to cover the skillet about 1/2 in deep. Turn on the heat to medium. While waiting for the oil to get hot, put sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl together and stir well to combine them. This will be used to sprinkle the panacitos when they come out of the oil.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface. After it is rolled out as far as you can get it then take a butter knife and cut strips about an inch wide. Then cut strips across about an inch to inch and a half.
Drop the squares into the hot oil. If the oil is not hot enough wait awhile until it is very hot , otherwise the dough squares will not puff up.
put about 4-5 at a time for a few seconds on one side then turn over and brown the other side. They should puff up fat. As soon as they are lightly browned on both sides scoop them out with a slotted spoon and put on a doubled paper plate.
Immediately sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mixture over them while they're still wet. |

Notes: I use to Love when my Grandma and my Mom would make these for us. It was such a treat to help sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar on top and then eat them when they were still warm. Now my kids love for me to make them as well and they love eating the whole batch!
