Ingredients: 1 1/2 cup flour Frosting: 1/4 tsp baking soda 2 squares unsweetened chocolate 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 cup milk 1/2 cup butter 1 tbsp. butter 1/2 cup brown sugar, tightly packed 1 cup powdered sugar 1 egg 1 egg yolk (save the egg white) `1/2 tsp vanilla 1/8 tsp maple flavoring pecan halves (9 dozen)

Directions:Sift together flour, soda, salt. Cream butter and sugar. Add and beat well the egg and egg yolk. Blend in vanilla and maple flavoring. Add flour mixture gradually and mix thoroughly. Arrange pecan halves on cookie sheet in groups of three. Put rounded sides up to make head and legs. Make dough into balls (1 tsp of dough) Dip in egg whites and press on pecans. Bake at 350 Degrees for 10-15 minutes. Cool and frost.
Frosting: In double boiler (or microwave if you have one!!) heat chocolate, milk, and butter until chocolate is melted. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar. Beat till smooth and glossy. : |
