1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup cold water
2 cups water

Beat for 5 minutes

Add 3 T burnt sugar. Beat again
Add 1/2 cup more flour
2 tsp baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Burn sugar by putting 1/2 cup sugar in an empty pan. Wen it is browned, add a small amount of water to make a syrup. The sugar may be very hard but will soon melt in the water you add and will become like syrup. This is also good in the frosting.
