10 c. flour
3 c. sugar
1 c. butter
3 large eggs
1 t. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 t. vanilla extract

IMPORTANT: All ingredients must be at room temperature

Directions:
Directions:
Sift about 10 c. flour into large mixing bowl. Make hole in center of flour. Put sugar, butter, eggs, milk, soda, and vanilla in hole. Work with hands to make soft dough, being careful not to work in too much flour. Get the dough just so you can handle it. Divide into 4 parts. Working with one part at a time, put on well floured pastry sheet and pat out with hands to about 1/4 inch deep. Cut in any desired shape. Bake on cookie sheet at 350º until light brown. Cool on racks and store in tightly closed container. If teacakes become dry before used up, a cut apple will restore them to freshness.
