"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 Cups Butter softened
1 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
4 Cups Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter until soft and fluffy. Then mix in the brown sugar. Mix in flour. Once dough has come together in a ball, remove from bowl. Then start to knead, and knead and knead the dough. This takes time and work and you are looking for a dough that starts to crack and come apart. Then roll dough about a 1/4 inch thick and use a cookie cutter to make cookies. Use a spatula to lift cookie dough off counter and place on cookie tin. Prick each short break cookie 2 or 3 times with the tines from a dinner fork. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. and then watch till cookies look dry and a slight brown. For more of a festive Christmas look, get a jar of green and red marachino cherries, cut in half and place 1/2 cherry on top of cookies before baking. This is Gramma Merle's favorite shortbread recipe as Gramma Anderson got this recipe from her younger days on the farm.
