2 cups milk
5 tablespoons butter
3 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
3 yeast packs
1 teaspoon lemon juice
½ salt
5 cups flour
Powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Heat milk to scalding and then cool,
Dissolve 5 tbsp. butter in milk.
When mixture is cooled add yeast.
Mix in separate bowl beat eggs and then add sugar and beat.
Add lemon juice and salt and mix.
Alternate adding flour and milk mixture to this / beat well.
Dough will be a little sticky.
Let rise for 1-1.5 hours until double in size.
turn out onto floured board and knead well.
Roll out and cut into donut shaped squares and let rise again.
Once risen melt shortening in large pan and deep fry donuts until they are brown and float.
To serve heat and shake in bag of powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar.
