5 lbs Gold Medal Flour
2 1/2 C sugar and a pinch of salt
4 pkgs dry yeast follow direction on packet (or 3 cakes dissolved in 1/4c water)
4 whole eggs
4 egg yolks
2 c scalded milk- cool to warm
1 1/2 c warm water mix with milk
1 1/4 c crisco (regular crisco)
1 1/2 oz anise seed- i use a little seed and also drops to taste

Put flour into large bowl ( I use kitchen-aide), make a hole in center-
Add- sugar, salt, Crisco, anise, part of milk mixture, eggs and yeast mix. Mix all
Add more milk/flour as needed to make a soft sponge dough, a little sticky but not too much.
Knead for 10 mins. Shape/Roll into loaves or rolls. Let rise at least 1 1/2 hours or doubles in size (cover with towels to help rise) If you use the dry yeast it takes a little longer to rise.

Bake at 350º on second rack- on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
