1½ cups chunky peanut butter
1½ cups brown sugar
1½ cups white sugar
2¼ cups shortening
3 eggs
6 cups flour
1½ tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
1½ tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream together the peanut butter, shortening, and sugars.
2. Add well beaten eggs.
3. Mix and sift dry ingredients.
4. Combine with the first mixture.
5. Chill thoroughly.
6. Make into small balls and place onto cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
7. Flatten with a fork.
8. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes.

Mama May got this recipe when she was running the school cafeteria in Marks, MS ~1950. The state would send her large vats of peanut butter...I'm sure the students were thrilled she chose to use a lot of it making these cookies!
