2 cups sugar
3/4 cup milk
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1 dash salt
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 Tbsp. vanilla
3/4 cup candied fruit
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Grease lightly the bottom of an 8x8 inch pan. Butter sides of a heavy gauge 2 qt. saucepan. Clip candy thermometer to side of pan. Stir together in saucepan sugar, milk, chocolate, corn syrup, and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat til sugar is dissolved and mixture begins to boil. Continue cooking mixture stirring only when necessary to prevent sticking. Cook to 234 degrees on soft boil stage. Remove from heat, add butter but do not stir. Cool mixture without stirring or moving pan until temp is 110 degrees. Remove thermometer, stir in vanilla, beat mixture with wooden spoon lifging candy with an up and outward motion til mixture becomes thick, starts to lose its gloss and doesn't stand back into the pan when the spoon is lifted. Stir in fruit and nuts. Pour mixture in prepared pan and shape as desired.
