Grandma Wise's Cinnamon Bread Recipe

Ingredients: 1 package of yeast 1 cup of milk 1 tsp of salt 1 egg ¼ cup sugar 3½ cups of flour ¼ cup of butter ½ cup evaporated milk 1 cup brown sugar

Directions:Soften the yeast in ¼ cup of warm water and add 1/2 tsp of sugar to the yeast. The yeast will puff up.
Scald the milk. and add the butter, salt and remaining sugar. Set aside and let cool. After the milk has cooled, whisk in the egg. In a big bowl pour in the milk mixture and the yeast. Add the flour gradually, all but a half a cup. Dump dough onto a clean surface and knead in the last ½ cup of flour. Dough should be sticky. Let the dough rise in the bowl, it should double in size. Cover dough with a clean towel while it is rising.
Flour and grease a 9x12" pan. Place the dough in the plan and let it rise a second time in the pan. After rising is complete, make deep finger dimples in the dough in the pan. Pour evaporated milk on the dough filling the dimples. Sprinkle brown sugar all over the top and then spinkle cinnamon on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350F. |

Notes: This recipe wa given by my cousin Mike Barrett by originated our Grandmother Agnes. He and my Dad baked this when my Dad was alive. It gave my Dad great joy to bake this.
My Father enjoyed baking this family recipe with his nephew creating lasting memories.
