6 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
(do not use margarine)
1/4 cup heavy or whipping cream
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup slivered almonds, finely chopped
1/2 cup candied orange peel, finely chopped
8 squares (8 ounces) semisweet chocolate, melted

1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Line large cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper.

2. In 1-quart saucepan, combine butter, cream, corn syrup, sugar, flour and heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring frequently. Remove saucepan from heat; stir in almonds and candied orange peel.

3 Drop batter by rounded teaspoons, 3 inches apart, on prepared cookie sheet. (Do Not place more than 6 cookies on sheet.) Bake just until set, 10 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet on wire rack 1 minute. WIth wide metal spatula, transfer cookies to wire racks to cool. If cookies become too hard to remove, return sheet to oven briefly to soften. Repeat with remaining batter.

4. With small metal spatula or butter knife, spread flat side of each cookie with melted chocolate. Return to wire racks, chocolate side up and let stand until chocolate has set.
