2 cups flour
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ginger
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp fresh ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground anise
1 cup milk
½ cup Roger’s Golden Syrup or corn syrup

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl of mixer, combine all dry ingredients. With mixer running at lo speed, slowly add syrup and milk. Increase speed a little and mix till well combined. Bake in greased loaf pan 350 º for about 50 minutes till done. I always double the recipe, bake in bundt pan, 350º for about an hour. Check with skewer if you’re not sure it’s done, skewer should come out clean.

This is my most requested and favourite recipe. I got it from my mom. I make this almost every week to go along with Sunday soup. Kids favourite.
