Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pint milk (scalded)
6 tbsp butter
6 tbsp Crisco shortening
1 ½ cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 yeast cakes
½ cup warm water
2-3 eggs
Powered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk just until it bubbles around the edge and add sugar, salt, shortening and let stand until lukewarm.
Beat eggs with a spoon in the pan they will raise in. Dissolve your yeast cake in the cup with the water and add to eggs, then add the milk mixture. Sift flour into the mixture and stir with a spoon as far as you can, then knead with your hand until it sticks together and sort of tears away from the pan. Pat a little water on top so the dough doesn’t get dry.
Light over a 1 minute then turn off. Put the pan of dough in (covered) and let raise about 3 hours. Knead it down again and to the same thing over but raise only 1 hour. ( IT WILL DOUBLE IN SIZE)
Flour you board, roll some dough and cut in circles. The dough will be springy and not roll great!! Try to get about ½ inch thickness; Let them raise for about ½ hour.
Pull the circles quite a bit to make larger and fry in Crisco. Turn back and forth until light brown, a minute or less. Take them out with an open ladle so the grease stays in pan and you don’t prick the kuekla. Dust with powdered sugar.
