Ingredients: 1 C. brown sugar 1 C. white sugar 1 C. shortening 2 eggs 3½ C. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. cinnamon ½ tsp. nutmeg ½ tsp. cloves 1 C. cold coffee 1 tsp. soda 1 C. cooked raisins ½ C. nuts

Directions:Put the raisins in a bowl and pour hot water over them. Cream together sugars and shortening. Add beaten eggs to the mixture. Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Pour 1 C. of cold coffee in a cup and add 1 tsp. soda. Stir in the soda. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed ingredients. Add the cold coffee to the mixture. Add the nuts. Pour the water off the raisins then stir in the raisins. Drop by spoonfuls on the cookie sheet. Bake 375º for 8-10 mins. Touch the cake cookie and if it springs back, the cookies are done. Take out and let sit in the pan for 2 additional minutes.

Notes: This is another wonderful "Dada" recipe! Grandmother Luckey would alway make these cookies whenever we went camping. I remember always enjoying them with coffee in the crisp mountain mornings. The cookies taste like little spice cakes.
