Ingredients: Bake at 350° 45 min in 9 x 13 pan Cake: 2 C white sugar 1/2 C shortening 2 Eggs 1- 1oz melted chocolate (Nestle melted chocolate packet) *** In a separate small bowl mix: 2 tsp baking soda (dissolved completely in 2 C buttermilk)then add to the other of ingredients you've measured out. 1oz red food coloring 2 C all purpose flour 2 tsp vanilla Mix well and pour into well greased 9 x 13 cake pan bake for about 45 min
Frosting: 1/3 C salted Butter 2/3 C shortening 1lb powdered sugar 1 egg 1/2 C milk Beat with mixer for 15 minutes Note: Shortening can be stored in refrigerator for about a week. Warning this has always been a family favorite ❤️ everyone goes nuts for!

Directions:Mix all cake ingredients together and pour into well greased cake pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean (don't over bake). While cake is baking make the frosting and set aside in refrigerator until cake is fully cool to touch then Frost and it's ready to enjoy. Please note: you may want to make 2 of these as they don't last long as everyone inhales them. |
