2 c. seedless raisins
1/2 lb. soft butter,
2 c. sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder,
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 c. chopped walnuts
6 to 8 oz. mixed dried fruits, chopped small
1 c. water

Directions:
Add 1 cup water to raisins and boil very gently for 5 minutes, with lid on to conserve moisterur. Cool thoroughly. cream butter, add sugar gradually and beat. Add eggs, one at a time blending and beating thoroughly. While raisins are cooling, sift the flour, salt, baking powder, soda adn spics four times to thoroughly distribute spices. Add vanilla and cooled raisins and raisin liquid to the beaten eggs. blend well. Add flour mixture, stirring and mixing thoroughly. Add mixed fruits, cutting any cherries or large pieces of citron into small pieces. Add nuts. This is a very large batter, and you will need an extra large bowl. Mix fruit and nuts thoroughly. dough will seem very soft because of the threee eggs. refrigerate dough overnight. Drop by tsp onto greased baking sheets. Bake in 375º F oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Shoudl be a light brown when done. This recipe makes 6 to 7 dozen cookies if you do not use heaping tsps of dough. to keep batter from spreading too much in the oven, and to make it easier to handle just remove a little at a time from the refrigerator. It shoudl be kept cold. This cooky pleases everyone, and has ben thoroughly tested over the years.
