Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
1 ½ cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
¾ cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs unbeaten
1 tsp hot water
1 cup nut meats (finely chopped nuts)
2 packages (12-14 oz) semi sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups oatmeal (quick or regular uncooked)

Sift flour once before measuring
Then sift flour with soda and salt. Put in separate bowl.
Cream shortening until soft in separate bowl.
Add sugars gradually, creaming until light and fluffy with shortening mixture
Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition to shortening mixture
Add hot water to creamed mixture. Than combine sifted dry ingredients to cream mixture
Add nut meats, chocolate chips and oatmeal and mix well
Add vanilla and blend well
Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet
375 degree for 8 minutes
