Ingredients:
Ingredients:
9 Cups of All Purpose Flou
1 Tbs. salt
1 1/2 Cup raisins
1 5 0z. can evaporated milk
1 stick of butter, less one tablespoon =15 Tablespoons of butter
1 Cup boiling water
1 Cu[ granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. molasses
3 pkg active dry yeast
1 egg, beaten separately

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over raisins and let stand until it cools to luke warm. Use 1/2 C of liquid to proof yeast.

Proof Yeast: Empty contents of 3 packages of yeast into 1/2 Cup of lukewarm water with a pinch of sugar. Set in warm place until you see a chemical reaction (color change, presence of bubbles, increase in volume).
Remember water that is too hot will kill the yeast and if not warm enough will not activate the yeast.(68-81 degrees)
Heat small can of evaporate milk and add enough warm water to make 4 Cups of liquid. Bring to a boil, add butter or margarine, reserving 1 Tablespoon of butter or margarine for later.

Gradually add sugar and molasses. Add one cup of flour and egg which has been beaten in a separate dish..

Gradually add remaining flour stirring until it is all absorbed. When dough becomes too difficult to stir, turn onto a floured board and knead remaining flour.

Place dough in a clean greased mixing bowl and cover with a warm damp kitchen towel and set in a warm place until dough doubles in size.

Punch dough down reshape into loaves and allow to rise before baking at 375 until lightly browned.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I have taken the measurements/directions given to me by my family and have attempted to adapt with using proper recipe format. One important thing to remember is that Grandma Brody would always say a Rosary while the bread was rising-I assume that she figured it would take that long for the bread to rise.
The number of loaves this recipe makes depends on the way you divide the dough. Since Grandma has seven girls and 2 boys, I can only "guesstimate" that it probably 2 to 3 loaves.(Using the King Arthur Flour Easiest Bread Recipe as a comparison, 4.5 Cups of flour for one loaf of bread)
