5# flour
3 pints warm water
2 tbsp. lard or 3 tbsp. shortening (melted)
1 large cake yeast
6 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1 cup of the warm water with a little of the sugar. In large bowl, combine remaining sugar, salt, water, and melted shortening. Add yeast mixture. Gradually add flour to form soft dough. Turn onto floured surface and knead until smooth. Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise until double in bulk (1 1/2 to 2 hours). Punch down. Divide and form loaves. Place in greased bread pans. Prick tops with fork. Let rise until higher than pans. Bake at 375º for about 30 -35 minutes
