1 c shortening
1 c sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp clear vanilla
2 c flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Cream of Tartar
Pinch of salt

Directions:
Mix shortening and sugar together.
Add the eggs.
Add the vanilla.

Add remaining dry ingredients. I usually add another cup of flour since the dough is sticky.

Refrigerate the dough.

Rolll cold dough on a floured cloth taped to the counter. Cover your roller pin with a floured cloth as well. (Fletch ate our last roller pin cover in 2019). I buy cheap fabric and throw it all away after rolling.

Flour, Flour, Flour everything.

Bake at 375 for 13-15 minutes.

*The makes one batch of cookies.

Frosting is made from Wilton Meringue Powder found at JoAnne's or Michaels's. Recipe is on the can.

Personal Notes:
I have made these cookies since 1978. The original recipe was from Alta Mae Bihner, Brad's mother. Brad would sell these cookies to his brother, Tom. I have taught my sons, daughter-in-laws and grandsons how to roll. This is our Christmas tradition.
