1 c. Butter
2 c. Brown Sugar
4 Eggs
4½ c. Flour
½ tsp. Salt
½ tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tbsp. Water

Filling:
2¼ c. Dates
1 c. Sugar
1 c. Water
1 c. Black Walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Make your dough ahead and allow to refrigerate over night.

Make your filling and allow to set over night. To make: combine dates, sugar and water in a sauce pot and cook until thick, add nuts and stir. Then let the mix set overnight.

New day:
Divide the dough into 3 equal parts. Roll out dough and spread date and nut mix on dough. Roll like a jelly roll. Put it in the icebox. Let it set until stiff enough to cut into cookies. Take out one roll at a time cutting the log into ½" slices. Bake at 375º for 15 min. It may take longer to bake, but don't over do it; they burn easy.
