1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

FILLING:
1 pkg dates (16 oz.)
1/2 c. sugar (maybe a bit more)
1/2 c. water
1 cup nuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugars very well.
Add eggs and mix thoroughly.
Sift flour with baking soda, and salt.
Add to creamed mixture.
Roll dough to 1/2" thick.

Cook ingredients for the filling until it becomes a paste.
Let cool and spread on dough.
Roll.
Chill.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cook 10-15 min.
Divide into 3 sections.
