I have used frozen bread dough. (Grandma didn't say it, but I'm assuming you can use any bread dough recipe.) When your bread dough has risen, cut off pieces the size you want and stretch it out. Then put in boiling lard. I use my iron Dutch oven or heavy aluminum pan, but your deep fat fryer is much safer. Let them fry until golden brown on the underside, then turn over and let that side brown. Delicious with soups. Let it thaw and rise and punch it down once and let it rise again. The lighter the dough the better the fried bread.
