Directions:Line a cookie sheet with paper towels; set aside. Whisk the egg and water in a mixing bowl till frothy. Add flour, salt, baking powder and whisk together thoroughly for 2-3 minutes until smooth, scraping sides of bowl. On one slice of bread, arrange 2 slices of ham, turkey and cheese evenly.. Place another slice of bread on top and slice the sandwich in half diagonally. Assemble all the sandwiches.
Heat oil to between 365-375º F in at least a 10- inch pan. Do not let the oil reach a higher temp. than this; if the oil starts to smoke, turn the heat down. Dip half the sandwich in the batter, allowing the excess to drain off, and very carefully place in oil. Repeat with other sandwich half. Cook 3 mins. on each side or until golden brown. Place the cooked sandwich on the prepared cookie sheet and keep warm in the oven until ready to serve. Repeat with 3 other sandwiches.
Cook one at a time and allow the oil to reach the desired temp between each. Do not let the oil burn. Sprinkle with confectioners (powdered) sugar and serve with blackberry preserve on the side.

Notes: For over 50 years, located at 31 Royal Street, in New Orleans Square at Disneyland is the Blue Bayou. You can take a break from the hustle & bustle and no matter the time of day sit among shimmering moonbeams as they dance across the bayou and Delta fireflies mysteriously glow in the distance. The most popular item on the menu, since opening day has always been the Blue Bayou Monte Cristo. During normal lunch service over 200 sandwiches are served.
