3/4 cup of shortening (mom uses crisco)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup of molasses
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon cloves
3/4 teaspoon ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Blend shortening, sugar, egg, and molasses. Sift together the dry ingredients and then add them to the shortening mixture. Mix thoroughly. Form into balls the size of walnuts. Place on a prepared cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes. When they are cool, roll cookies in confectionary sugar.
