1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3.4 c. butter (soft)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg (separated)
1 1/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. finely chopped nuts
jam/jelly

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, butter and vanilla and egg yolk. (Save white) Blend well. Stir in flour and salt. Mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Slightly beat egg whites. Dip balls in egg then roll in nuts. Place i inch apart on an ungreased sheet. Press deep indentations in center of each cookie with thumb. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove immediately from sheet. Cool.
After cool fill with jam or jelly
