1 lb. butter
Generous amount of Salt
Generous amount of Pepper

Thawing instructions:

1. Place Turkey in refrigerator 4 - 5 days ahead of cooking date to thaw
2. Check the Turkey for amount of thaw day before cooking date
3. If turkey is not thawed you will have to use a cold water bath to thaw. Turning the turkey over every 30 minutes until thawed.

Preparation instruction:

1. Pull the neck and giblet package out of turkey and place both in a bowl of water in refrigerator until ready to cook.
2. Melt butter and pour over and inside of turkey.
3. Generously salt the inside and outside of turkey.
4. Cover and cook for 15 minutes per pound.
5. Check Turkey about 30 minutes for doneness. If not done yet, baste with butter juice.
6. Cover and cook remaining time.
7. Carve and serve.

My mother was the cook for her family as Granny Gilbert was not a very good cook. The one fail proof recipe that she never messed up on was this turkey recipe!! Enjoy and serve with love!!!
