Cream:
1 c. shortening
2 eggs

Add and mix well:
2 c. brown sugar
½ c. warm water
3¾ c. flour
½ tsp. salt
1½ tsp. baking soda

Filling:
½ c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. dates, chopped and pitted
1 tbsp. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Filling: Stir sugar and flour together add water and dates. Cook until soft. (cool)

Drop dough by teaspoons. Dip clean spoon in cold water and press in center making a hollow. Put filling in hollow and drop a small piece of dough on top of each.

Bake at 350º 10-12 minutes (5 dozen)
