Ingredients:

1 9" unbaked crust
About 5 large apples cut into chunks

I substitute 2 cups of cranberries for 2 of the apples

Mix well and toss with apples until well coated:
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbs flour
1 -2 tbs Cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 black pepper

Put coated apples into crust and drizzle
2 tbs lemon juice over.

Mix until crumbly and sprinkle on top:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 stick butter

Given the amount of printed advertising on brown paper bags, I've moved to parchment paper tent wrap over the pie. You need a lot of paper clips.

Place on cookie sheet and bake at 425 for 1 hour.

Personal Notes:
I rediscovered Granny's apple pie and have had lots of fun embellishing it for the modern table. I've added much more spice to the pie - and generally sprinkle and grind to taste rather than measure. Black pepper was the suggestion of a colleague at work so is sure black pepper enhances the flavor of anything!
