Ingredients: 1 c. Shortening 1 c. Boiling water 2 eggs, beaten 3/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. Salt 2 packages dry yeast 1 c. Lukewarm water 6 c. Sifted all purpose flour

Directions: |
Directions:Soften yeast in 1 c lukewarm water with 1 tsp. 𝚂𝚞𝚐𝚊𝚛, set aside. Combine shortening and boiling water until shortening is melted In mixing bowl cream sugar with shortening and water, add eggs, salt, and yeast and water mixture. Gradually add flour to form a soft ball. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 minutes. Place in a greased bowl. Cover with cloth and let rise for 3 hours. May place in refrigerator and let rise overnight. Punch dough down and knead again on flour covered surface. Roll dough with rolling pin about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with 2-3 inch biscuit cutter and fold in half. Place on greased or sprayed with non stick cooking spray pan or muffin pan. Let rise until double in size about 1 hour. Bake at 400º for 15 minutes. |

Notes: Granny and cafeteria staff at Mars Hill Bible school prepared these rolls several times a week to serve with lunch. Many students and staff members from previous years at the school attended her funeral and commented on remembering these delicious rolls.
