2 cups sifted flour
¾ teaspoon baking soda
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 ¾ cup coconut
1 cup butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter, sugar, add egg, vanilla and almond extract and beat well.
Gradually stir in flour mixture. Add coconut and mix well.
Put on wax paper and shape into 8 inch square.
Cover until firm enough to shape. About 1 ½ hours or overnight.
Cut dough into 8 1 inch strips. Cut crosswise into 2 inch sections.
Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes.
