2 1/4 cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup soft butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts)
1 cup finely cut, pitted dates
1/3 cup finely chopped maraschino cherries, patted dry with paper towels
2/3 cup Kellogg's Corn Flake© crumbs or 2 1/2 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes© crushed into crumbs.
18 maraschino cherries cut in quarters

sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
blend together butter and sugar, add eggs and beat well. stir in milk and vanilla.
add sifted dry ingredients.
mix in nutmeats, dates and finely chopped maraschino cherries.
shape dough in ball using level tablespoon of dough for each.
roll in Kellogg's Corn Flake© crumbs.

place on greased cookie sheet.
top each cookie with 1/4 maraschino cherry.

bake at 375º for about 12 minutes, until lightly brown.

This recipe was from a Pillsbury Bake-off recipe contest most likely in the 1950's. Aunt Leah made these every Christmas.
