1 mashed potato
1 c. potato water
1 c. milk
1 c. sugar
1 c. cold water
2 beaten eggs
1/2 c. shortening (melted)
1 T. salt
6-8 c. flour
1 pkg. yeast

Directions:
Directions:
Cook potato until soft and mash, add potato water/milk and 1 C. sugar. Boil one minute. Add 1 C. cold water. In large bowl put potato and sugar mixture. Add 1/2c. melted shortening, salt and eggs. Sprinkle 1 pkg yeast over this. Let set a few minutes. Add flour to make stiff dough (6-8 cups) dough should be sticky. Cover and let rise until double in size, work down, raise again and make buns. They will be sticky to work with, use shortening on your hands to form buns. Let rise and bake at 350 degrees until brown. Brush with butter after taking out of oven. These will stay soft.

Everybody loved Grandma Lorrie's buns. She always seemed to have fresh buns baking in the oven. Whatever holiday we were celebrating we always could count on these yummy treats.
