5 pounds Red Potatoes
1 pound Bacon, diced
½ large Sweet Onion, diced
1⅓ cups Vinegar
⅔ cups Water
6 heaping tablespoons Sugar
2 tablespoons Corn Starch
Salt to taste
Celery Seed to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Boil the potatoes (with skins on) in salted water until tender. Allow to cool slightly, then remove peels and slice into a large bowl.
Cook the diced bacon, reserving the bacon fat (should be about a ¼-½ cup).
Whisk together vinegar, water, sugar, and corn starch. Add to the bacon fat, stirring until bubbly and thick. Season with salt.
Stir together potatoes, onion, bacon, and sauce until combined.
Season to taste with salt, pepper, and celery seed.

This recipe was usually doubled and served at Juenger summer picnics. I can remember Gram burning her fingers while peeling and slicing the hot potatoes because she was too impatient to wait.
It doesn't taste the same unless it's served in a big yellow Tupperware bowl...
