1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp soda

One egg white lightly beaten with a fork to be used in the decoration of cookies
Various colored sprinkles.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar well
Add egg and vanilla

Sift or mix flour, salt and baking soda together

Work the flour mixture into the butter, sugar, egg mixture.

If electric mixer in not heave duty, flour may have to be worked in by hand.

Form small balls, smaller than a walnut. Dip top of ball into a lightly beaten egg white and then into colored sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350º
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until bottoms are just turning light gold. Test for doneness.
