1 cup of raisins- boiled in 1 cup of water, reserving ½ cup of liquid for dough
¾ cup of shortening
1½ cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2½ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. cloves
½ tsp. baking powder
2 cups of quick cooking oatmeal
1 cup of walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins in 1 cup of water for 2 minutes. Set aside raisins reserving ½ cup of the raisin water. Beat together the shortening and sugar until fluffy. Beat in 2 eggs. Add in the 1 tsp. of vanilla and the raisin water. Mix together the next 6 ingredients in a separate bowl. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir in the oatmeal, raisins, and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º until golden brown.
