Split Broiler if available or cut whole chicken in half
Beef marrow soup bone
Cover with cold water and bring to boil: skim foam then:

Add:
salt, pepper, saffron(optional)
Parsley root and tops
1 tomato cut in quarters
1 C tomato juice ( I use V8)
3-4 garlic cloves or to taste
Wedge of cabbage
Yellow onion quartered with skin on
Celery (slice on the vertical) and tops
Carrots sliced lengthwise

optional: chicken base in jar like better than boullion

Cover and simmer 2-3 hrs or longer if desired. Allow to cool and strain. Pick out chicken, carrots and add to broth.

I prefer to keep the noodles separate and add to individual bowl rather than store noodles in the soup.
