1 qt milk
2 T flour
2 C sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
⅛ tsp salt
1 qt heavy cream
1 T vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix flour, sugar and salt. Add eggs, slightly beaten, and milk gradually. Cook over hot water, 10 minutes, stirring constantly at first. Should custard curdle, it will disappear in freezing.

2. Allow to cool.

3. Add cream and flavoring. Transfer to the ice cream freezer.

This recipe makes 2 quarts. I have added many flavors to this recipe. This recipe came from my grandmother. I remember taking my turn cranking the ice cream freezer. If you didn't crank, you didn't eat any.
