1 stick or 1 cup Butter flavor shortening
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening and sugar in large bowl until smooth and creamy. Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla until well blended. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; gadually add flour mixture to creamed mixture until well blended. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 hour for easier handling. Roll 1/3 of dough at a time on lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut dough with floured cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with desired sugar. Bake 375º for 5-9 minutes or until edges start to brown. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet then transfer to wire rack.
