1 c flour
1 tsp ginger
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c butter
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp lemon flavoring
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 c cocoa

Directions:
Directions:
1- Preheat oven to 350º
2- beat eggs well
3- add softened butter, lemon juice and sugar and stir till creamy
4- combine flour and spices in separate bowl.
5- add flour to spices to make very soft dough.
6- turn over onto heavily floured surface and pat down to approx 1/2" thickness
7- if dough is too sticky add more flour till not sticky but still soft. Too much flour will make a tough cookie!
8- cut out desired shapes and place on greased cookie sheet
9- gently combine left over dough into ball and repeat process, again adding as little flour as possible, keeping counter well covered in flour so cookies don't stick
10- bake 5-8 min till tops dent slightly only. DO NOT OVERBAKE!

Frost with basic icing sugar, butter and milk icing recipe and add sprinkles!

This recipe is from my Mom's mother. It is very very old and has been passed from generation to generation. It was always served only at Christmas time which seemed to make these cookies even more special. Grandma usually had them in shapes of stars, rectangles and clovers. The cousins would always eat as many as we could without getting caught!
