Pastry Base:
1/2 c margarine
2/3 c flour
4 tsp water

Almond Paste:
1/3 c margarine
2/3 c water
3/4 tsp almond extract
2/3 c flour
2 eggs

Glaze:
1 c icing sugar
1 tbsp + 1 tsp soft margarine
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 - 2 tbsp water

Directions:

Heat oven to 350º

Base:
1- cut margarine into flour to pea size lumps
2- sprinkle water over top and mix with fork
3- round with hands into a ball
4- make 1 1/2 tsp drop onto ungreased baking sheet. Flatten to 3" circles.

Paste:
1- heat margarine and water to a rolling boil
2- remove from heat and quickly stir in extracts and flour
3- Stir vigorously till mix forms a ball
4- beat in the eggs one a time till smooth and glossy.
5- spread about 1 1/2 tbsp over each circle, going slightly over the edges
6- bake 30 minutes, then cool slightly before glazing

Glaze:
1- mix all ingredients till spreadable and generously glaze pastries.
