Molasses Cookies Recipe

3/4 c shortening
1/4 c molasses
1 c sugar
1 egg
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
2 c flour

sugar for dusting

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening, molasses and sugar in 3-4 qt pan. Cool thoroughly.
Add egg, baking soda, cloves, ginger cinnamon and flour.
Beat well and refrigerate several hours.
Form dough into small balls, roll in sugar.
Bake at 375º

Note--these spread a lot, so no more than 12 to a large cookie sheet. For Christmas, use colored sugars!
