1 (20 oz) can sliced pineapples
2 package (4 oz) vanilla instant pudding
10 maraschino cherry halves
1 package yellow cake mix
4 eggs
1 cup water
1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

** if using cake mix that includes pudding mix, reduce water to 3/4 cup and only 1 pkg pudding mix.

Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Combine 1 pkg pudding mix with juice and set aside. Arrange pineaple slices in bottom of 13 x 9 inch pan. Place cherries in center. Pour pudding mixture over pineapple. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Combine cake mix, 1 pkg pudding mix, eggs, water and oil in large bowl. Blend, beat at medium speed for 4 minutes. Pour over pineapple in pan. Bake at 350ºF for 40 to 55 minutes or until cake tester inserted comes out clean and cake begins to pull from sides of pan. Do not underbake. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Invert onto serving platter and let stand 1 minute then remove pan.
