1 cup salted butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups all purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter in mixing bowl. Gradually add powered sugar and mix until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and stir until thoroughly combined. Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Gradually add to the cream mixture and combine into a ball. Roll out on lightly floured board to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Keep ball in bowl with wet towel to keep moist. Bake 10-12 minutes in preheated 375º oven. Wait until cool to decorate.

Ice with icing made of powdered sugar, milk, and a little vanilla. May freeze ahead of time and frost at a later date.
