1 Package Dry Yeast
5 Tbsp Lukewarm Water
2 cups Buttermilk
5 cups Flour
5 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
½ tsp Baking Soda
3 Tbsp Sugar
¾ cup Shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven at 350º. Add dry yeast to water and mix with the buttermilk. In a separate bowl, mix the remaining ingredients. Add yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until dough forms. Dough can be used immediately or you can refrigerate up to 4 days. Pinch enough dough to form a biscuit. Bake until done checking periodically.

Going to breakfast at Nanny and Papa Glasco's house was a treat. The best time was when you were invited for breakfast either for breakfast or dinner. They always had everything but the best thing was her biscuits and gravy. My uncle Bruce wrote about these biscuits in his book he was writing before he died. The biscuits were great with gravy or jelly but they were also great to put butter and honey on. Grandpa loved it that way and taught us that. It was delicious. At one time, my grandpa Roy had bees and collected his own honey
